Who doesn’t love the story of Ferdinand the Bull… although I do remember my Nan reading it to me as a little boy and I always felt sad for Ferdinand because everyone expected something from him that wasn’t “in” him… he just wanted to sit around and smell the flowers.

LOVE Ferdinand – I can still see the illustrated cork tree, full of “ripe” corks dangling from its branches…
Thanks Beth, it is an awesome book with equally awesome illustrations! 🙂
Oh, I love this! I used to love this book. And wasn’t there a cartoon, too? I remember my grandmother reading it to me, too. It had a lot of resonance — and, actually, the last letter she wrote me told me to never forget to stop and smell the roses. I haven’t thought about that in years. Thank you for reminding me.
My pleasure Emma, thanks for the comment 🙂
