Ferdinand the Bull (#357/365)

Who doesn’t love the story of Ferdinand the Bull… although I do remember my Nan reading it to me as a little boy and I always felt sad for Ferdinand because everyone expected something from him that wasn’t “in” him… he just wanted to sit around and smell the flowers.

Be sure to check out my new project for 2012, The Developed :: 52 weeks, 52 photographs.

  1. LOVE Ferdinand – I can still see the illustrated cork tree, full of “ripe” corks dangling from its branches…

  2. Oh, I love this! I used to love this book. And wasn’t there a cartoon, too? I remember my grandmother reading it to me, too. It had a lot of resonance — and, actually, the last letter she wrote me told me to never forget to stop and smell the roses. I haven’t thought about that in years. Thank you for reminding me.
