I had fun with yesterday’s Panic so I thought I would continue it on with a little series of fictional Jazz Mutant Superheros or whatever these dudes are… Today introduces SMOKIN’ JOE JOHNSON… fastest snare drummer on the West Coast.
Thought I’d continue the Fruit series today. To be honest I had drawn the banana guy first but didn’t have a good idea for him until I dressed him up in super villain clichés this morning!

To be honest, I think I have seen a few illustrations using this saying so really nothing too original here but I like how it turned out and it is a bit of a throw-back to the first three Panics.

The Würtzell-Hinckenbøtten Horn was one of the most desirable Horn during the latter part of the 1920’s for the subliminal words Freidrich Würtzell and Lloyd Hickenbøtten so cleverly moulded into the value and pipe work of these wonderfully crafted instruments. The company however fell apart after Würtzell and Hickenbøtten had a falling out over a young woman and Würtzell produced over 100 horns with various obscene phrases questioning Hickenbøtten’s sexual orientation and his mother’s weight and promiscuity.
Wow, pretty hard to believe it’s been 90 illustrations… looking back it really doesn’t seem that long ago I decided to do this bat-shit crazy project! One illustration a day kinda sounds not too bad but by around 50 posts you start to worry that you will run out of ideas, hence why, when I do something pretty good, I’ll try to make it a series so at least I’m covered for a few more posts! 🙂
Today’s Panic is a tribute to my all-time favourite shoe, the hightop, specifically the Converse OneStar. This illustration is a little take on a branding for a hightop shoe store called HighTop Hi-Jinx.
Today’s Panic is a bit of fun. I was actually trying to draw an balding business man character but it ended up looking more like an ancient Kung Fu Master so here he is, Grand Master T’ang!
I’m really wanting to paint another Panic but with little Piper and Neave and the jobs that go with being Mr Mum time is getting away from me! So here is another digitally illustrated Panic! Paint and paper coming soon!
