For the record, I love robots…. but yeah, they will cut you as soon as look at you.
Well, I’m going to go out on a limb here and call this one of the best Panic’s so far. Had some great fun with this. I love the weekend because I get to spend more than 45 minutes on the illustrations!
Tell me what you think of it! I love comments and feedback
The idea behind the piece came from a few images I found while StumbleUpon-ing around the web from a book written in sixties that had cool drawings and predictions about what 2011 would be like… impossible stuff like “Vision Desks” and “Vision Phones” and “Global Networks”… pfft, crazy-assed hippy freaks! 🙂
Future Find #2: KittiBot
In the year 2011, all domesticated animals have become extinct but thanks to technology, little Susie won’t miss out on cuddling up to her favourite kitty. Pictured above is a well-loved first generation KittiBot which, due to rising sea levels and increased salt in the air, would rust out within months.
Headache. That’s what I got and it ain’t going nowhere.
Today’s ‘One a Day’ is, to be honest a “let’s get this stuff finished so I can go and lie down” kinda deal. My brain just isn’t up to the task of anything witty or insightful.
Introducing OWL-9000, HAL-9000’s pet Owl. Kubrick actually cut nearly all of OWL-9000’s appearances out of 2011: A Space Odyssey but if you look closely in the scene where HAL is reading Dave and Frank’s lips while they are discussing what to do, you can see OWL’s little antenna pop into frame. True story! OK, OK… that’s my brain starting to shut down. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be headache free and ready to move forward, not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom… ahem… time to go.
