I’m really enjoying this new series I’m doing, Future Finds gives me an opportunity to get a bit silly and sci-fi all at the same time!
Future Finds #121: Sky Towns
In the year 2011, overpopulation will send many humans to the skies. Massive aeroplanes with bio-domes attached cruise the air offering theirΒ residents beautiful views of such earth wonders like the Amazon desert and the arctic wastelands of Australia.
Thought I’d continue the Future Finds theme I had going from yesterday. Mad props to the Simpsons episode I stole the idea from π
Future Finds #33: Computers
In the year 2011, computers will be three times as fast as current systems and twice as large. Due to the increase in processor speed, computers will need to be run by diesel engines and the chemical waste produced by operating a single machine will make working as a computer technician one of the most dangerous occupations of the future.
Well, I’m going to go out on a limb here and call this one of the best Panic’s so far. Had some great fun with this. I love the weekend because I get to spend more than 45 minutes on the illustrations!
Tell me what you think of it! I love comments and feedback
The idea behind the piece came from a few images I found while StumbleUpon-ing around the web from a book written in sixties that had cool drawings and predictions about what 2011 would be like… impossible stuff like “Vision Desks” and “Vision Phones” and “Global Networks”… pfft, crazy-assed hippy freaks! π
Future Find #2: KittiBot
In the year 2011, all domesticated animals have become extinct but thanks to technology, little Susie wonβt miss out on cuddling up to her favourite kitty. Pictured above is a well-loved first generation KittiBot which, due to rising sea levels and increased salt in the air, would rust out within months.
Woke up today with a damn headache and it’s still hanging around… professional hazard for someone who spends 10+ hours a day staring at a computer screen.
Those who know me personally know how much I love red wine. I’m lucky enough to live near Coonawarra and have a few clients and close friends who work in the wine industry so I’m always kept in good supply!
Today’s Panic is a personal one. My lovely and heavily pregnant wife pointed out to me last night I hadn’t dedicated an illustration to her so to rectify that here is today’s… You will notice the top of the key has the letters E, N and a ? for Ellen, Neave and Baby Hood #2 which is due in three weeks!
You girls (and whatever Baby Hood turns out to be…) have the key to my heart. Don’t lose it, they are expensive to replace π
The illustration today has a bit of a Mambo vibe, inspired by a few illustrative heroes of mine, namely Reg Mombassa and Jeff Ragless.
OK, I took the easy option today and went with another animal… this time an octopus which seems to be the go to animal for predicting future events like the NSW Elections (mind you a blind sloth with a rotten apple for a brain could have predicted that outcome).
I haven’t done a character type Panic for a while so I thought today would be the day. I asked Neave what kind of thing I should draw today and she asked for a Unicorn. I didn’t have the Cossack theme in mind when I started but it took me a while to get the legs looking anywhere near correct and I just kinda gave up and decided the unicorn would be dancing and the way the legs were looking would have to do! π
Neave has given a critique on the illustration by saying it sucks because unicorns don’t dance nor should have it been a boy.
