The invitation is extended to design an A3 poster for the 2012 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival Design Prize.
The Prize
The winner will receive a $1000 cheque kindly donated by the Arts Festival Committee (wouldn’t that be great to put towards your next laptop or software?!) and the designers of two highly commended entries will each receive one dozen bottles of wine from Raidis Estate.

A new illustration for y’all and a new layout for The Creative Panic blog… su-weeeeeeeet.
The illustration is a very loose, stream of consciousness piece which I enjoyed experimenting with. Essentially, just draw and put down colour and lines and see where it goes.
Interestingly enough (I use the word interesting loosely), when I just put own marks, with no real concept in mind, I always seem to end up drawing faces that are almost self-portraiture in nature in that they are male, thinnish and with short hair and big ears and noses. The piece did end up becoming more coherent to me quite quickly and as I became aware of the theme I did consciously expand on it, but far be it from me to explain the piece so I’ll let you, the viewer find some meaning within it, or not! 😀
Hope you are all having an awesome week and no doubt you will be hearing from me soon.
Cheers
Ben
So, the “One illustration a day for one year” project has come and gone and in what has become a habit, I am still drawing silly pictures daily. How wonderful. Here is Owl man… or On my way down… or, Untitled #1. You can name it whatever you like. I’m planning on expanding on this one and put it down with Oils which will be awesome fun hopefully…. hopefully.
Well, there you go… 365 illustrations in 365 days. It’s been a pretty crazy year and I am pretty happy to be finished! The project has definitely done what I wanted it to do, in that I have improved my illustrative technique. I wouldn’t say I’ve got heaps better but I definitely have become a lot quicker and more efficient in getting my ideas down.
As of today the site has had 173,700 views and 1,261 followers which is just awesome. I didn’t expect to have my work seen by that many people and I’d like to thank everyone who commented or just popped by to have a look! I’ve also done some pretty crazy series in the past year with Skeleton Headwear being the most prevalent but I’d say my favourite would be the Alien’s are Real series and the Versus series. My favourite all-time illustration would probably be Ferdinand the Bull although I have a tonne more that I really love.
As with everything creative, I also drew some pretty crap illustrations over the past year but I wont mention them here 🙂
What’s next for the Creative Panic you ask? Well, I am going to continue to draw and this blog will become the showcase for some much more detailed and polished illustrations as well as promoting my skills to land some sweet illustration jobs!
Once again, thanks to everyone who visited and commented on the blog and make sure you pop over to The Developed, my new project for 2012.
Cheers
